GHOSTS THROUGH THE CRACKS

When I dance to jazz music, I feel free – Susie

I love jazz. Why? I don’t know. It doesn’t sound like anything familiar to me, still when I listen to it and especially when I dance to it, it’s like a part of me is set free. Free, like I’ve never be. So free sometimes I’m scared by that feeling, but never so much not to go back to it every time.

The dreams fueled my desires and I follow them willingly – Simon

I remember this quite clearly. Early times in Chicago – I don’t remember just as clearly. But I remember the dreams. Strange dreams that would visit me every night. I can’t say I know what they were about, but they were inspiring. The feeling is still with me. They inspired me what to do, what I wanted to achieve and how to achieve it. They gave me purpose, and I gave myself to them. I followed their inspiration willingly.

I should have known better than to think my will alone would shape my life – Michael

I’ve always known why I was born and as a young man I willingly chose to follow that path. The path every man should tread, that of defending our people, with our hands and our wit and to protect our land with weapons in hands if need be… though I should have known better than to think my will alone would shaped my life.

There are always voices calling and I’ll always listen – Blood

Cansasa was a man left with nothing, he sure thought so. I knew better. I knew he still remembered and he still cared, deep inside. There’s a place, deep inside us, where nothing is ever lost. Where no matter what people see, what we ourselves think, our true self always lives. Sometimes we forget to look. Sometimes, we’re afraid of looking.

GHOST TRILOGY

Sinéad O’Flanagan – Meet My Character

This is an interview with one of my main characters fromGhostly Smell Around. It originally appeared in the Saturday Morning Character on Lyssa Layne’s blog, but I was given permission to repost it here.

So, please meet Sinéad. I hope you’ll like her.

Michael Red Willow

Sinéad talks about her relatioship with Michael in one of the NaNoWriMo 2014 – 30 days meme posts

When I first met Michael, he helped me out. Just like that. For no good reason other than I needed help.

I’m Sinéad O’Flanagan and I’m a midwife

Sinéad presents herself in one of the NaNoWriMo 2014 – 30 days meme post

When I left Ireland, I left nothing behind. I’m the last of my family, a family of midwives and healers.

When I came to Chicago, everything was new and different, but I thought maybe it should be this way. Maybe my path was to build a new life in a New World.

Life is so strange, you know? It has the weirdest way to guide you.

Michael – The past, the future

Another post from the NaNoWriMo 2014 – 30 day meme

I’m definitely not a romance writer, but romance is part of life, so of course I have romance threads, especially among my main characters. But I like my romance threads to be part of the evolution of the characters. I like their love life to be significant  in their larger life journey.

This is how I see Michael’s relationship to Sinéad.

Justin Brailsfield, gambling a life

A post from the NaNoWriMo 2014 – 30 day meme.

Justin is a deeply flawed man. I’ve always considered him my antagonist, never a villain.

Adam welcomes him with open arms, he makes room for him in his business (Justin becomes the manager of the Old Shelter), shares the family house with him. But that’s not enough for Justin, because he thinks it’s unfair Adam should have everything, especially considering their father always meant him to be the heir of the family.

Adam Brailsfield, speakeasy owner and ghost-haunted man

Adam Brailsfield, the owner of the Old Shelter, fears he’s going mad. In fact, people believe his grandfather, Stacy Brailsfield, hung himself right there, in the club, because he went mad. It may run in the family.
