Trenches is a very impactful short film presenting many classic dieselpunk elements.
Directed in 2011 by Zack Snyder (Justice League, 2017) and produced by Warner Bros, this is a very short animated film loosely inspired by 2011 fantasy film Sucker Punch.
It takes place on a battlefield that greatly resembles the battlefields of WWI and focusing on dehumanisation, a theme that is close to the historic Great War and to dieselpunk alike.
It is quite violent. But there’s a lot of humanity to it too, and it’s surprisingly emotional, in my opinion.
I loved it.

I am guessing it was a marketing gimmick as it is clearly advertising the full feature at the end… the film did not rate well (all style over substance) – this short told more of a story in its under three minutes! YAM xx

True. I hadn’t seen the film, btu from what I’ve seen (mostly screeshots) and read, it doesn’t sound like something for me. But this short is a totally different thing.

It’s a nice one. I really enjoyed it… even if it is quite tragic.
